The NFL finally has some competition. The success of the AAF this weekend should prove once and for all – that no one should ever underestimate the power of football in America. The league started off with two games this Saturday Night and went toe-to-toe with the Rockets and Thunder on ABC.
And, it bested two of the top NBA teams duking it on primetime in the ratings. Though it was the first week and we can certainly expect ratings to decline in the coming weeks – this was a nice start.
People Are Betting On It, Too Bookmakers from around the country have been pleasantly surprised with the amount of action they’re getting, as well. For now, the AAF seems to be a hot ticket.
Betting interest on AAF varied book by book. Handle for Pro Bowl was almost 5x the handle on AAF games this weekend @CaesarsPalace books. South Point’s @andrewssports said AAF betting exceeded his expectations, and @SuperBookUSA said AAF handle was comparable to avg NCAAB game.

Many offshore betting websites, such as MyBookie.ag and others have reported over six-figures in action for the first weekend of games. It is clear that bettors have an interest in the league. The interest likely won’t be this high as we get further into the season, but you never know.
The AAF Season
The regular season consists of 10 weeks, which began on Feb. 9. It currently has 8 franchises that are spread out across the country. There will be a four-team, single elimination playoff, and the title game will be held in Sam Boyd Stadium, near Las Vegas, on April 27. If the AAF makes it to a second season, it will compete against the rival, XFL in 2020. Vince McMahon’s football league lasted just one season in 2001 but will be back next year as competition to the NFL and AAF.
AAF Betting Odds
Offshore betting sites have a host of odds for the AAF. There are season-long futures on which team will win the championship and sides, totals, and money lines for each game. One of our favorite betting sites for sports gamblers, MyBookie.ag, has both available. Betting limits are low so far, but as the league gets more popular, those will be increased. Right now, they are at $500 when it comes to sides, totals, and moneylines. Below are the futures for the 2019 Championship at MyBookie.ag.
