NFL Offensive Player Of The Year 2024 – Betting Odds And Predictions

NFL Offensive Player Of The Year Betting Odds & Analysis

The Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year award goes to the most outstanding player on the offensive side.

The winner is chosen by votes from a bunch of sportswriters who follow the NFL regularly. The crucial thing to know is that it’s usually given to a player who had a fantastic season but won’t win the Most Valuable Player Award.

For example, last season, Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson won the MVP unanimously. The easiest thing would have been to give him the Offensive Player of the Year award as well. But the writers gave it to Saints’ WR Michael Thomas instead.

Thomas was not in the MVP conversation, but his season was so great, the OPOY was the perfect way to recognize his outstanding 2019 performance.

Let’s take a look at the odds for the Offensive Player Of The Year in 2020:

The Best Bet: Lamar Jackson +900

Lamar Jackson is an offensive machine. He’s unstoppable in an open field, and the Baltimore Ravens are all-in on his playing style.

Last season he won the MVP, which means it’s unlikely he will win it again this year. I suspect he won’t have as good of a season as he did in 2019, but he will remain explosive enough to win this award.

Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson are more MVP than OPOY candidates. Lamar fits the narrative of an unreal offensive weapon.

The Value Bet: Kyler Murray +2000

Last year Kyler Murray showed us glimpses of what he can do once he gets confidence. In 2020, he should take a massive step forward in one of the most talented offenses in the NFL.

Everything that Murray will throw will get caught. Well, maybe not everything, but when you have Larry Fitzgerald and DeAndre Hopkins in the same team, it’s hard to expect any drop passes.

Murray is a great value bet. The odds on him are 2/1 compared to the favorites, and he has even more weapons than the more prominent names in the league. He should explode in 2020, and at +2000, it’s a risk worth taking.
