All eyes in the football universe will gaze toward the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. At Sin City, the AFC Champion, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the NFC Champion, the San Francisco 49ers will collide for the right-to-be Super Bowl champions.
As you delve into this article, you’ll explore the chances of claiming the MVP award in Super Bowl 58. We remain uncertain about the frontrunners, as the teams set to contest the game have yet to be determined.
Keep in mind quarterbacks have won the MVP in 32 of the 57 previous Super Bowls. However, since 2016, we have seen three none-quarterbacks win the award over the last seven years.
So, keep your options open, and let’s look at the MVP favorites for this year’s Super Bowl.
Odds To Win The Super Bowl MVP Award
PLAYER | |
---|---|
QB Patrick Mahomes | +135 |
QB Brock Purdy | +250 |
RB Christian McCaffrey | +400 |
TE Travis Kelce | +1400 |
WR Deebo Samuel | +2000 |
RB Isiah Pacheco | +2800 |
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes – Odds to Win MVP +135
Betting on Patrick Mahomes to win the Super Bowl MVP is the easiest way to make money during the last game of the season.
Mahomes has played in the Super Bowl three times, recording 738 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions. And still, with those fluky numbers, he has won the Super Bowl MVP twice.
Winning the MVP in the Super Bowl is about fast voting, and those with a vote usually don’t overthink; they just give it to the quarterback.
One of the best examples of what will happen is the Chief’s win after the AFC Championship game. Mahomes and the Kansas City offense didn’t score once in the entire second half of the game in Baltimore. All the people talked about was how great Patrick Mahomes is.
It makes no sense. Yet, use this delusional narrative in your favor and bet Mahomes to win the Super Bowl MVP.
49ers QB Brock Purdy – Odds to Win MVP +250
Like the Mahomes narrative, Brock Purdy has the second-best odds of winning the MVP, mostly because he’s the Niners’ quarterback.
But we know San Francisco dances to the rhythm of Christian McCaffrey. Yet that hardly matters. The award usually goes to the quarterback.
In favor of Brock, he put together a winning drive against the Packers in the divisional round that shut his critics off.
He did something similar in the comeback against the Lions in the NFC Championship game. He has shown he can rise to the occasion, which might land him a Super Bowl MVP if his team wins against the Chiefs.
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey – Odds to Win MVP +400
CMC is what you should see as a value bet. I’m positive that if the Chiefs win, the award will go to Mahomes, but I’m not entirely sure that will happen if the Niners get the W.
McCaffrey’s the key in San Francisco’s offense. He scored 25 touchdowns in the regular season and postseason combined.
If Purdy messes up once, but the Niners win, and CMC shines like always, voters will ditch Brock and go for McCaffrey.
So, if you are picking the Niners to win, it has much more value to bet on Christian McCaffrey at 4/1 than on Brock Purdy.
Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce +1400
Travis Kelce is a big storyline in this year’s Super Bowl, but he’s a long shot at best at the Super Bowl MVP award.
Because Kelce plays a position directly attached to Mahomes’ success, it is unlikely he will get the nod to win the award, even if he has a massive game.
For that to happen, Mahomes would have to throw several bad picks, and Kelce would thrive in the game’s biggest moments.
The problem is we have seen Mahomes throw bad interceptions in the Super Bowl, and he still has won the MVP award no matter the circumstances.
