World Series 2019 Betting Futures Preview

World Series 2019 Futures Odds

After a marathon of a baseball season, the MLB Playoffs are finally here. It’s an interesting field and I feel like a World Series Championship is more wide open than usual.

Notably, the Boston Red Sox, the franchise who won the 2018 title, did not make the postseason. From the NL, the Chicago Cubs, who won the World Series a few years ago and have been a mainstay in recent years in the MLB Postseason, also did not make the playoffs.

The action begins Oct. 1 with the NL Wild Card game, with Milwaukee facing off against Washington on Tuesday evening.

World Series Odds Analysis

The Astros are the odds-on favorite at +190, with the Dodgers right behind them in the NL at +250.

Houston would get the home-field advantage if they make it to the World Series after a sterling 107-55 record and .660 winning percentage.

Behind them, we have the Yankees at +350 and the Braves +660, both teams will have home-field advantage in their divisional series Twins (+1300) and the Cardinals (+1400), respectively.

New York has noticeably shorter odds than the rest of the of these teams, due to their impressive regular-season record. They narrowly missed home-field advantage in the postseason.

The rest of the teams on the list are in the Wild Card games, meaning they have one shot to advance or they will be headed home.

  • The Nationals (+1400) host the Brewers (+1700)
  • The Athletics (+1600) host the Tampa Bay Rays (+2000)

Is A Bet On The Astros To Win It All Worth It?

They tick all the boxes when it comes to a team that can win a title. Also, they did it, in 2017, with many of the players currently on their roster.

However, this field is a lot more wide open and we have several teams from the AL with all the tools to give them a run for their money.

At +190, I don’t see much value in taking the Astros.

The Unheralded Twins

It seems that no one is ever excited about the Twins. They’re not a Wild Card team, they have an amazing roster and they won 101 games this year, with winning percentages just behind the Yankees and Astros.

Yet, their odds to win it all are much better at +1300. If we are gambling on a top team that doesn’t have to go through the Wild-Card round – I love Minnesota.

Wild Card Thunder

It’s tough to want to bet on a Wild-Card team, as your betting futures ticket may be dead after Tuesday or Wednesday’s games, but Oakland is being severely undervalued in this spot.

They have all the makings of a championship team. Strong offense, excellent pitching staff, and a bullpen that has improved drastically as we approach the postseason. The A’s will still be a viable bet if they win their Wild Card game on Wednesday night, but their odds won’t be nearly as good as the +1600 they are now.
