Odds Analysis
Right off the bat, we can see that Pittsburgh is the far better wager at Bovada, as they are –150 to win the division there versus -170 at BetOnline. They’re the reigning champs of the division, finishing the 2016-17 season with an 11-5 record.
Baltimore sits at +350 to win the division at both sites. The Ravens finished 8-8 last season, but were in the fight for the division until the final few weeks of the year.
Cincinnati had a rough season going 6-9-1 after winning the division the previous year. A bounce-back may be possible for the Bengals this season. If you’re looking to take them, place your bet at BetOnline rather than Bovada, where they’re +325 compared to +300.
The Browns have been a laughingstock for years, but have made front office moves to turn their franchise around. However, they still have a long way to go as we head into the season. They’re a far better bet at BetOnline at +3300 compared to Bovada’s +2500.
Our Pick to Win the AFC North
Pittsburgh seems like a bargain at Bovada at -150. Assuming Le’Veon Bell ends his holdout (which is expected), they have the best offense trio in football, in Brown, Bell, and Ben. Receiver Martavis Bryant will also be back in the fold this season, which takes an already elite offense to another level. They built on their shaky defense in the draft, but the unit did improve late last year and has many young players who may blossom this year.
The rest of the division has plenty of question marks. The Browns don’t have a realistic shot of taking down the AFC North. Cincinnati’s offense can score, but their defense looked poor down the stretch last season, and they’re a full year older, on a roster that is already aging.
The Ravens seem like the team that will give the Steelers the best run for their money, but Joe Flacco is already have back issues. Their offense is middle of the road, and like the Bengals, defensively, they’re another aging unit.
Our Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers -150 at Bovada
