What We Like About Betway
Betway has come a long way in recent years when it comes to reducing customers’ complaints and repairing the negative image they had in the past. Most sites still don’t have them in the top tier of bookmakers or rate them at an elite level but have them a middle-tier international bookmaker. We agree with this sentiment and ranking.
They have a pretty solid welcome bonus for new players. Most international sportsbooks these days don’t offer much when it comes to bonuses. It’s nice that Betway has a bonus that is bigger than most sites, along with other promotions. They’re also one of the few “all-in-one” gambling sites that provide players with a VIP program that provides some real rewards.
They accept players from more countries that most online gambling sites. Their currency support and language support is also impressive. They have a ton of options and both areas, which is impressive for a bookmaker that only has a customer base of about 2 million accounts.
What We Don’t Like About Betway
Those who have been around the industry for a while may have a sour taste in their when it comes to Betway. We can’t say that we blame them because they’ve done many shady and downright awful things in the past. Two years after the sportsbook opened their doors, Betway canceled a wager that a player made 18 hours after a player made a bet on a Russian Superleague game. Of course, the bet was a winner. Betway claimed they didn’t void the wager, but instead canceled it, because it was “not accepted by their traders.”
Obviously, this isn’t appropriate behavior by a bookmaker. The complaints continued after this incident. They had major issues paying players for some years and were undoubtedly a scam sportsbook for quite some time. However, Betway slowly began to improve. They gave back winnings they confiscated to a number of players and reworked their terms and conditions that were predatory. Many sites, including SportsbookReview.com, took them off their blacklist.
Betway has changed management teams twice within the past five years. Communication between management, industry sites, such as SBR, and with the betting community worldwide has been excellent in the past few years. That’s not to say there still aren’t some complaints. The difference today between a decade or so ago with Betway is that 99 percent of players are being paid quickly and without issue. Also, management is much more available. Most of the recent complaints these days center on bonus disputes, which seem to be handled positively.
Putting their past issues aside, Betway is a sportsbook that doesn’t like when you beat them. If you’re a skilled sports bettor and you’re doing stuff like betting steam and hitting them hard where they are least efficient – you can expect to have your limits cut rather quickly.
